Our Story
Club HOPE will be successful when it becomes commonplace for people to heal from addiction’s harmful effects in compassionate communities. Success will also occur when every person accepts that Healing Opportunities are Possible for Everyone impacted by addiction.
Addiction is a common human experience with many harmful effects that separate people from one another. Recovering from the negative impact of addiction is challenging but possible. Club HOPE aims to decrease the isolation and trauma related to addiction by increasing connection through compassion and love.
Our goal is to acknowledge addiction; to reduce and eliminate feelings of shame and guilt; and to remove stigma—the branding of people who suffer as flawed, weak, or some-thing outside of normal.
To recover from addiction’s harmful effects, we choose to stay connected with our authentic selves and with each other in a way that supports our personal and collective health and wellbeing. We believe that change occurs when individuals get closer to being and expressing their true selves.
Recovery does not happen in a vacuum. At Club HOPE, people from all walks of life come together to share their experiences, stories, and wisdom about how to minimize the negative consequences of addiction. Together, we learn how to maximize recovery and quality of life.
This occurs when each of us has access to a community of people—a tribe of like-minded souls—who support the journey into feelings, emotions, and heart-based thinking and action.
We value safety, inclusiveness, transparency, and truth-telling. We promote these values through our six guiding principles:
- Belonging and empathy establish Club HOPE’s safe and inclusive space.
- Worthiness and self-love lead to healing, which empowers us to tell the truth about our recovery process and to share it with others.
- Guidance and encouragement create room for personal growth and connection with others who are on a similar journey.
We want to make sure that no one ever faces addiction alone and afraid.
